Oroklini, written Voroklini on the official signs, has become one of the fastest growing expatriate areas in Cyprus. It sits just north of Larnaca on a hillside that runs down to the bay. And the height is the point: the views are the reason people buy here.
The area splits into the flat coastal strip along the bay and the hillside village above it. Newer villa developments have filled the slope between the two, and that is where most of the recent arrivals have gone.
Larnaca is about twelve kilometres south, so the airport, the hospital and the seafront are all close. That combination of proximity and lower prices than Limassol is what has driven the growth.
Goods clear at Limassol and travel roughly 80 kilometres east. Larnaca is the island's second port and is used on some sailings, in which case the road leg is much shorter. So it is worth asking which applies to your shipment.
Since 2021 a British shipment enters Cyprus as a third country import. Transfer of residence relief still applies to used personal property, on form Aπ. 2, with conditions on ownership and on how long you lived outside the EU.
All of the qualifying detail lives on the Cyprus customs and transfer of residence page. For anything current, use the Department of Customs and Excise for the current position rather than a removals page.
Oroklini village, the hillside developments and the coastal strip along Larnaca Bay. Livadia and Kellia right west and north. Pyla, Xylotymbou and Ormideia east towards Dhekelia. Larnaca city, Mackenzie and Finikoudes about twelve kilometres south, with Aradippou and Dromolaxia inland and Pervolia and Kiti along the coast beyond.
Yes. Voroklini is the official spelling on signs and documents, Oroklini is the form most people use in English. Either name will find the right place, but use the official one on shipping paperwork.
It can. Villa driveways on the slope are often short and steep, ending at a gate above or below the road. So a loaded vehicle cannot always get onto them and goods are carried the last stretch. The coastal strip is flat and easy.
Usually Limassol, roughly 80 kilometres west. Larnaca is the island's second port and is used on some sailings, which shortens the road leg a lot. Ask the moving company which applies to your booking.
About twelve kilometres north, so the airport, the hospital and the seafront are all close. That proximity combined with prices below Limassol is what has driven the growth here.
Yes. The original village at the top of the hill has narrow lanes in the traditional Cypriot pattern. Most new arrivals are in the newer developments below it, but if you are up there it changes which vehicle can be used.
The mover handles the household shipment and the customs paperwork attached to it. Residence permits, tax registration and school places are separate and should be checked with the relevant authority rather than the moving company.
