Kolin has 33,392 residents, the smallest destination we write a page for. No international removal firm keeps a depot here, and none needs to. What you should ask is not whether a mover covers Kolin, but how, because the answer decides how many delivery days you get to choose from.
The town sits on the Elbe east of Prague in Central Bohemia, close enough to the capital that it benefits from the traffic heading there. Kutna Hora, with its protected historic centre, is a short drive south and is covered by this page too.
Everything about the customs side is identical to a move into Prague. What differs is the logistics, and being honest about that is more useful than pretending a small town is served exactly like a large one.
International moving companies run the whole country from a handful of bases. A crew delivering to Kolin sets out from Prague or another Central Bohemian point, does the job, and returns. Nobody is sitting in Kolin waiting for your lorry, and nobody needs to be.
The practical consequence is scheduling. There are fewer possible days on which a vehicle is coming this way, so flexibility on your delivery date is worth more here than it is in a city where something arrives every week.
Kolin movers will not volunteer this. It is not a problem and nobody is hiding it, but it does mean the right question to put to a moving company is how often you run this way, rather than do you cover Kolin.
Being forty odd miles from the capital is the useful thing about this location. Prague has plentiful warehousing and a great deal of freight arriving, and an onward delivery from there to Kolin is a short local run rather than another international leg.
So if you need storage while you find permanent housing or wait for keys, ask removal companies to price it in Prague as well as locally. The nearer option is not automatically the cheaper one when the nearer market is smaller.
Kolin is an ordinary working town for delivery purposes: mixed housing, room to park, no unusual restriction. Kutna Hora is not. Its historic centre is protected, and protected centres commonly limit vehicle size and access hours.
Even where a large vehicle is technically permitted, medieval streets were laid out for carts. The usual solution is the main lorry parked legally outside the old town with a smaller vehicle running the last stretch, inside whatever window applies.
Ask three things before the price is settled: whether your street sits inside the protected area, what hours deliveries are allowed, and what the transfer to a smaller vehicle costs. All three are answerable in advance and none of them is answerable on the morning.
Where the housing is old, expect tight stairwells, retrofitted lifts if any, and external door openings that are low as well as narrow. Measure the narrowest turn rather than the width of the stairs, measure the lift car internally, and measure your largest item in three dimensions including whether it comes apart.

Identical to anywhere else in the country. Relief from import duty on personal property comes from Council Regulation (EC) No 1186/2009: normal home outside the EU for at least 12 continuous months, goods owned and used for at least six months before you left, entered for free circulation within 12 months of establishing residence. Alcohol and tobacco get no relief. An EORI number and proof of your address are both needed.

Overland the whole way, with no sea leg and no container, because the country is landlocked. Your belongings cross the Channel by ferry or through the tunnel, drive through France or Belgium and Germany, then east past Prague.
A part load shares lorry space and costs less. Sole use of a vehicle drives direct and costs more. Given the scheduling point above, get both priced with a realistic window attached to each rather than a single hopeful date.
These pages cover the parts of the job that moving companies price on their own rather than folding into a single figure.
Yes, but ask how rather than whether. Most international moving companies cover the whole country from a small number of bases, so a Kolin delivery is served from elsewhere in Central Bohemia. That is normal and it works. What it means in practice is fewer possible delivery days, so flexibility is worth more here than in a city.
Probably a little. A shared load fills according to how much freight is heading your way, and less goes to a town of this size than to Prague. Kolin sits close to the capital, which helps, but ask for a realistic window rather than a best case before you choose between shared space and sole use of a vehicle.
Yes. Kutna Hora sits a short drive south and is served by the same crews with identical customs work. Its historic centre is protected, so deliveries there need checking for vehicle access in a way that Kolin itself generally does not.
Expect them. Protected historic centres commonly restrict vehicle size and access hours, and the streets were not built for a modern lorry regardless of what is permitted. If your address is in or near the old town, ask what the arrangement is and whether a smaller vehicle is needed for the final stretch.
Often yes, and this is one place where the usual advice bends. Prague is close, warehousing there is plentiful, and an onward delivery to Kolin is a short local job. Ask your mover to price storage in both places rather than assuming the nearer option is the cheaper one.
Usually not, if you qualify for transfer of residence relief. Council Regulation (EC) No 1186/2009 allows personal property to enter free of import duty when you move your normal home from outside the EU. You must have lived outside the EU for at least 12 continuous months and owned and used the goods for at least six months before you left.
